Eclipse season survival guide

On the 25th of March, we had a lunar eclipse happen in the sign of Libra, offering us a chance to take stock of our relationships, bringing balance and harmony to the forefront of our minds.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon. This happens only during a full moon phase when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned in a straight line with the Earth in the middle. Lunar eclipses occur on average around 2 times per year.

Many of us have felt out of sorts, more lethargic and emotional – which is completely normal. It is a time for honouring and processing our emotions with compassion and care. Taking the time to reflect, slow down, and go within is necessary during this time.

On the 8th of April, we had a solar eclipse occur in the sign of Aries, inspiring us to take the initiative to pursue our goals and speak up for ourselves with conviction and courage.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking all or part of the Sun’s light. This happens only during a new moon phase when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned in a straight line with the Moon in the middle. Solar eclipses tend to occur around twice a year (although they can happen up to 5 times in a year – but this is pretty rare!). However, total solar eclipses occur approximately every 18 months.

This is a great time to perform a ritual, now, I wouldn’t suggest manifesting during this time and would hold off for a few weeks until the energies have died down, however, what you can do is write down what you want to release from your life on some paper and then (safely) burn the paper outside.

What can you expect during an eclipse?

  • Heightened emotions, sensitivity, or anxiety.
  • Restlessness or struggling to sleep at night.
  • Unexpected opportunities or changes – relationships, friendships, career or home.
  • Spiritual awakening – deepening of spiritual connection, or sense of alignment/purpose.
  • Stronger intuition, vivid dreams, or synchronicities.

It’s important to note that each individual’s experience of an eclipse is different, you might experience all of the physical, spiritual, or emotional effects listed above or you might be lucky and experience none at all.

For a more detailed analysis of how the Eclipse will personally affect you, visit Astro Seek and look up your current transit chart. Look at where the Moon is transiting your chart (but keep in mind that the moon changes house and sign approximately every 2.5 days).

Here are some useful tips for maneuvering through the eclipse season:

Cultivate a daily practice or ritual.

During a time of such uncertainty, having a routine and a sense of normality can be greatly impactful. This can look different for each individual but for example, you could go for a daily walk, practice yoga, sip cacao, and pull yourself a tarot card each morning.

It could be as simple as pouring yourself a herbal tea and journalling before you go to sleep at night. Or allocating 10 minutes to write down what you’re grateful for each day. This daily practice will help you weather the storms and come home to yourself. It goes without saying that your practice is completely personal and doesn’t need to be shared with anyone else.

Trust the process

Trusting the process is possibly, the hardest tip to master, if you’re someone who likes certainty (most of us do!), and if you struggle to surrender to the unknown. But trust me on this, even if things are up in the air right now and you feel lost and confused – the universe has a plan for you, and the more you relax into this by letting go of anything that needs to be released, you make space for new manifestations to be invited into your life.

Remember to be kind to yourself during this time, eclipses can stir up inner turmoil as they bring hidden emotions, fears, or unresolved issues to light. However, they will undoubtedly lead to personal transformation, growth, and spiritual evolution.
